Hailing from the idyllic countryside of Brittany, France, Yann Vasnier’s affinity for scents was ignited by the lush gardens surrounding his family home. As a young man, his fascination with perfumery deepened during visits to the Divine house in Dinard. Driven to transform his passion into a career, Vasnier dedicated his academic efforts to passing the perfumer’s exam. His perseverance paid off when he was hired by Quest International (now part of Givaudan) and admitted to the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles, where he had the rare opportunity to train under the legendary perfumer Françoise Caron.
Upon joining Givaudan, Vasnier quickly established himself as a gifted and innovative perfumer. His exceptional creativity and skill led to collaborations with some of the industry’s most iconic brands. Notably, he played a pivotal role in crafting two signature fragrances for Marc Jacobs:Lola(in collaboration with Calice Becker) andBang. These scents achieved significant commercial success and helped shift the fragrance market’s focus from celebrity-driven lines to designer-brand offerings.
Beyond his work with Marc Jacobs, Vasnier has developed fragrances for a diverse array of high-profile labels, includingSix Scents,Parfums DelRae,Tom Ford,Divine,Donna Karan, andComme des Garçons. Despite his remarkable accomplishments, he remains relatively under-the-radar outside circles of international luxury elites.
