Roxanne Kirkpatrick is an American perfumer making waves in the world of fragrance, currently associated with Givaudan, one of the largest flavor and fragrance powerhouses founded in 1895. Her journey into perfumery is as unique as the scents she creates.
Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Roxanne was initially immersed in the world of speed skating. Her dedication led her to compete across the United States and internationally. She achieved remarkable feats, becoming the United States junior sprint champion and even participating in the Olympic trials. This experience instilled in her values like dedication and resilience at a young age, which she later carried into her career as a perfumer. The travels associated with her skating career took her to various beautiful countries such as Holland, Canada, Austria, Germany, and Italy. These voyages not only broadened her horizons but also provided her with a rich tapestry of scent memories that would influence her future work.
Driven by a passion for discovery, Roxanne decided to pursue a career in perfumery. She set her sights on Givaudan and was persistent in her pursuit. She started as a summer intern, then worked as a perfumer’s assistant before commencing formal training at the Givaudan Perfumery School in 2012.
Roxanne is fascinated by the power of perfume to evoke emotions and create memories. She sees it as a unique medium through which she can gift something special to the world. She aims to push boundaries with her creations, approaching projects with a mindset of doing things differently and unexpectedly. At Givaudan, she has been involved in reinventing classic naturals, highlighting their best aspects and opening up new directions. Her experiences traveling to the sources of natural materials, like cistus in Spain and citrus in Italy, have formed a special bond between her and these ingredients, influencing her approach to fragrance creation. She hopes that people can feel the passion and energy she pours into every fragrance she makes.
Some of her notable creations include "Lucky Charm" for Carolina Herrera in 2022, which has received positive attention. Another is "Daisy Wild" by Marc Jacobs in 2024. Each of her perfumes reflects her creativity, dedication, and unique perspective, and she continues to be an exciting figure in the fragrance industry, with the potential to shape the scents of the future.
