Rosendo Mateu stands as a distinguished Master Perfumer, celebrated for his unparalleled talent and innovative spirit in the realm of perfumery. Hailing from Spain, Mateu embarked on his fragrance industry journey at the tender age of 15, joining Barcelona's Puig perfumery company as an apprentice. Rotating through various departments, his fascination with perfumes deepened, ultimately leading him to specialize in the perfumery division.
Driven by his passion for the craft, Mateu pursued studies in the elements, raw materials, and ingredients of perfumery in Grasse, France, at the renowned Master Marcel Carles' Roure School (now Givaudan). His education continued with years of training in Geneva under Grandmaster Arturo Jordi Pey (Firmenich) and in Paris with Max Gavary (I.F.F.). Collaborating with elite perfumers globally, he gained extensive expertise while developing fragrances for major international brands.
Mateu's partnerships with prestigious labels such as Antonio Banderas, Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne, and Zara have yielded numerous iconic fragrances cherished worldwide. In 2010, his dedication and mastery of perfumery earned him the title of Master Perfumer, admitting him to an exclusive echelon of industry legends.
Fueled by his creative vision and industry acumen, Mateu launched his own fragrance collection in collaboration with his son Joan. The project began in 2014, debuting in Spain in late 2015 with four scents. The collection's resounding success led to an expansion in 2017, introducing five unisex fragrances.
Beyond perfumery, Mateu has applied his talent to diverse arenas: crafting gin compositions for the international market and designing the scent for Barcelona's Epiphany Parade candy, demonstrating his versatility in creating olfactory experiences for unique contexts.
