Born in 1951 in Barcelona, Ramón Monegal emerges from Spain’s most illustrious perfuming dynasty, founders of Myrurgia and appointed suppliers to the Spanish Royal House. As a fourth-generation "nose," he embraced his heritage, beginning his training in 1972 with a focus on mastering infusions of ambergris, tonka bean, musk, castoreum, civet, and iris. His education spanned global perfume capitals: under maître parfumeur Artur Jordi Pey (Firmenich) in Geneva, with Marcel Carles in Grasse, and alongside Pierre Bourdon (Takasago and Fragrance Resources) in Paris. In 1977, he further honed his interdisciplinary vision at the Barcelona Design Centre, studying architecture to bridge design, art, and scientific conceptualization.

Ramón’s career began with a breakthrough fragrance for Myrurgia in 1979. After decades crafting scents for other houses, he realized a lifelong dream in 2007 by founding his namesake brand. In 2009, following 40 years in the industry, he launched his first collection from his Barcelona atelier—an endeavor that granted him unbridled creative freedom and a direct connection to perfume enthusiasts. His fragrances embody his ethos: that artisanal techniques and unrestricted creativity elevate perfumery to an art form.

In his workshop, Ramón oversees every stage—blending, macerating, and perfecting each scent—drawing primary inspiration from literature. He describes his process as "transforming words into notes, phrases into chords, and stories into olfactory compositions." This literary love manifests in his signature bottle design: an inkwell-inspired vessel with a flip-top lid, a nod to the written word.

Ramón Monegal’s creations pulse with Spanish passion, Mediterranean sunshine, and familial heritage. Many compositions are deeply personal:Fiestacommemorates the Monegal family’s centennial in perfumery, while theIbizacollection captures his affection for the sunlit island. His architectural roots shine inLa Isla Blanca, a tribute to his student years and the whitewashed buildings of Ibiza that inspired him.
