Prin Lomros: A Thai Perfumer Weaving Scents Through Storytelling

Prin Lomros, a self-taught perfumer from Thailand, first ignited his love for fragrances in childhood, often dousing himself in his mother’s perfumes. With no formal perfumery courses available at Thai universities, he initially turned to his other passion: filmmaking. After earning a master’s degree in film, however, he realized that his true vocation lay in the olfactory world.

During a visit to Grasse, France, for the Cannes Film Festival, Prin enrolled in short perfumery courses that rekindled his artistic flame. Returning to Thailand, he joined The Perfumer's World, a premier fragrance house in Bangkok, where he refined his craft before launching his own brands: Pryn Parfum, Strangers Parfumerie, and Parfum Prissana. In 2020, he unified his creations under the rebranded labelPRIN, continuing to craft scents inspired by Asian traditions, cinematic aesthetics, and contemporary style.

Prin’s artisanal fragrances have gained international acclaim, winning the Art and Olfaction Awards from the Institute of Art and Olfaction in both 2017 and 2018. His works can be found across diverse brands, including Azman, Der Duft, Prissana, Pryn Parfum, Strangers Parfumerie, The Fragrance Engineers, and Zoologist Perfumes.

His approach to perfume creation is deeply intertwined with storytelling and filmmaking. He begins by visualizing a moving narrative—complete with colors, sounds, and textures—then translates each element into olfactory notes and accords. His fragrances serve as olfactory films, often weaving in Asian influences like incense from Thai temples.

For Prin, perfumery is a narrative art form even more challenging than cinema. He believes that once experienced, his scents belong to the audience, who interpret their messages uniquely. His background in film studies, lifelong love of perfume collecting, and desire to infuse Asian perspectives into perfumery all shape his distinct olfactory storytelling.
