Margherita Carini’s Olfactory Journey: Where Art, Science, and Culture Converge
Born and raised in Italy, Margherita Carini’s fascination with scent emerged from a profoundly personal experience—her anosmic father. Though he could not perceive odors, he encouraged her to articulate the world through its aromas, a formative practice that honed her sensory awareness and deepened her reverence for fragrance as an invisible language.
Growing up in a family where art and creativity were central to communication, Margherita developed an early passion for self-expression. Her academic path combined Art History and Pharmacy, a unique blend that nurtured both her artistic intuition and scientific precision. In 2015, she left Italy to pursue her calling, enrolling in the renowned ISIPCA perfumery school in Versailles.
Her professional journey began with a rigorous three-year apprenticeship at Symrise’s in-house perfumery school, starting in 2018. This immersive training allowed her to explore raw materials, scent composition, and the emotional resonance of fragrance. In 2021, she joined Symrise’s Fine Fragrance division in Paris as a Junior Perfumer, marking the formal start of her career.
Mentored by the esteemed perfumer Alienor Massenet, Margherita continues to refine her unique olfactory perspective. In 2023, she joined Symrise’s creative team in Dubai, embracing the rich perfume traditions of the Middle East and expanding her cultural horizons.
As a passionate traveler, gifted photographer, and storyteller, Margherita approaches perfume creation with curiosity and adventure. She views the world through "curious noses and open eyes," drawing inspiration from global encounters and cultural discoveries.
