Anastasia's journey into perfumery began with a deep - seated interest in the art of creating scents. After graduating from a boarding school for the blind, where she received training and rehabilitation, she furthered her education by enrolling in medical school and becoming a professional masseuse. Currently, she is also studying psychology at university while working as an operator in a call center. However, her passion for perfume - making has always burned bright.
She is one of the key perfumers involved in the Pure Sense fragrance brand. In 2020, together with other perfumers like Maria Ushakova and Alexander Yashin, they launched a collection for Pure Sense. Anastasia played a crucial role in formulating the "Inspiration" fragrance. With her acute sense of smell, she was able to identify the perfect combination of mint, strawberry, and green tea for this scent. Her work process is similar to that of sighted perfumers, with the main difference being that she relies on technical experts to physically mix the various fragrance components for her. As she puts it, "We work with our noses, and the technical experts are our hands and eyes, gathering the various ingredients into test tubes."
In the training of blind perfumers, Anastasia also takes on the role of a lecturer. She imparts her knowledge about the components of perfume to other students. For example, she might suggest mixing lavender with mint to let the trainees experience the resulting effect and then encourages them to add another ingredient to the perfume bottle according to their own judgment, teaching them how to create different nuances of scents, such as mimicking the smell of a freshly peeled orange, an orange left for a while, or even orange juice.
