Trussardi is an Italian fashion and lifestyle brand that marked its centennial anniversary in 2011.
Founded in 1911 as a glove factory by Dante Trussardi, the company achieved early success and was later appointed as a glovemaker for the British Royal Family. Its most significant growth, however, began after Dante’s grandson Nicola took the helm in 1965.
Nicola’s vision and business acumen, attuned to the social shifts of the 1960s, catapulted the brand to international prominence as a luxury fashion and lifestyle goods house. One of his pivotal moves was introducing the iconic Trussardi Greyhound logo, which became a distinctive brand identifier in the global marketplace.
Under Nicola’s leadership, Trussardi expanded beyond gloves to offer luggage, handbags, home and office accessories, and leather jackets that embodied contemporary trends. The brand remained committed to fine Italian craftsmanship, earning a reputation for high-quality products worldwide. Its first boutique opened in Milan in 1976, serving as the flagship store, and Trussardi goods were exported to the U.S. and major European markets.
In the 1980s, the brand ventured into fashion, launching menswear and womenswear lines. Notably, it staged theatrical fashion shows open to the public, pioneering accessible luxury events. Nicola also expanded the Trussardi Group to include Trussardi Jeans, Trussardi Home, Trussardi Baby, Trussardi Junior, Trussardi Eyewear, and Trussardi Perfumes, contributing to the elevation of the "Made in Italy" label. The 1990s saw the brand enter Asian markets.
Despite Nicola Trussardi’s tragic passing in a car accident in 1999, the company thrived under familial leadership. Beatrice Trussardi, the fourth-generation heir, now oversees the business, introducing brands like Trussardi 1911, Tru Trussardi, and TJ.
Since 2005, Trussardi has collaborated with Selective Beauty on fragrances. The first scent,Trussardi for Women, debuted in a leather-encased bottle designed by Nicola himself.
