The 7 Virtues is a brand founded by Canadian author Barb Stegemann with a mission to support and empower Afghan women. It encourages the cultivation of natural flower crops as an alternative to Afghanistan's illegal poppy cultivation, which is the source of most of the world's heroin.
The company's mission states: "To craft a collection of gourmand fragrances that stand out for their exquisite quality while empowering communities worldwide." The 7 Virtues fragrance line is crafted using fair-trade organic oils sourced from countries affected by war or conflict.
The first organic fragrance in the line, Afghanistan Orange Blossom, was launched on International Women's Day in 2010, followed by Noble Rose of Afghanistan.
A fragrance featuring Haitian vetiver was in development for 2011, and oils for new perfumes are currently being sourced from the Middle East and Africa.
Designer brand The 7 Virtues boasts 22 perfumes in its fragrance portfolio. As a relatively new fragrance brand, its earliest edition dates back to 2010, with the latest release in 2025. The 7 Virtues fragrances have been created in collaboration with perfumers Angela Stavrevska, Julie Pluchet, Kamila Lelakova, and Céline Herbette.
