Prince Matchabelli is a perfume house founded in 1926 by Georges and Norina Matchabelli. Since 1987, the brand has been owned by the Anglo-Dutch company Unilever.
Georges Matchabelli was a Georgian prince who served as an ambassador to Italy prior to the Russian Revolution. In 1916, he married Norina Gilli, an Italian actress who rose to fame following her role in the 1911 pantomime spectacleThe Miracle.
The couple emigrated to the United States in 1926 and established the Prince Matchabelli perfume house. Georges Matchabelli passed away in 1935, and in 1936, the house was sold to perfume manufacturer Saul Ganz. It changed ownership several more times before being acquired by the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever in 1987.
Our fragrance database includes 21 perfumes by Prince Matchabelli, an established perfume house with a long history. Its earliest fragrance was created in 1931, and the most recent dates back to 2002.
