Italian fashion house Prada was founded by Mario Prada in 1913.In partnership with his brother Martino, the duo opened a leather goods and luggage store namedFratelli Prada(Prada Brothers) in Milan. Mario’s daughter Luisa later succeeded him in managing the business, and in 1978, her daughterMiuccia Pradatook the helm, steering the company into the globally recognized brand we know today.

Under Miuccia’s leadership, Prada introduced its first totes and backpacks in 1979, which quickly became bestsellers. The brand expanded its reach by placing handbags in major retailers worldwide and opening a second boutique in Milan. In 1984, shoes were added to the product line, followed by Prada’s debut womenswear collection in 1988. In 1992, the high-fashion womenswear lineMiu Miu(named after Miuccia’s nickname) launched, and menswear was introduced in 1993.

Prada ventured into fragrances with its exclusive "artisan fragrances" in 2003, initially available in boutiques and select department stores. Each scent focused on a single note—such as Iris, Orange Flower, Tuberose, or Violet—with additions to the line in 2007 and 2010. The brand’s first mass-market fragrance,Prada Eau de Parfum, debuted in 2004. In 2007, the "Ephemeral Infusion" line launched withInfusion d’Iris, spotlighting notes from the Exclusive line and featuring premium ingredients.
