Founded in 1913 by Mario Prada, the iconic Italian fashion house Prada traces its roots to a partnership with his brother Martino. Together, they establishedFratelli Prada(Prada Brothers), a boutique specializing in leather goods and luggage, in Milan. The business passed from Mario to his daughter Luisa, and later, in 1978, to Luisa’s daughter Miuccia Prada—under whose leadership the brand has evolved into the globally recognized entity we know today.

Prada expanded its product range significantly in the following decades: 1979 saw the launch of its first totes and backpacks, which quickly became bestsellers. To broaden its reach, the brand placed its handbags in leading retailers worldwide and opened a second Milanese boutique. Footwear was added to the collection in 1984, followed by the debut of Prada’s first womenswear line in 1988. 1992 marked the introduction ofMiu Miu—a high-fashion womenswear line named after Miuccia’s nickname—while menswear was introduced the next year, in 1993.

In 2003, Prada ventured into fragrances with a series of numbered "Exclusive Artisan Fragrances," available exclusively at its boutiques and select department stores. Each scent centered on a singular note, such as Iris, Orange Flower, Tuberose, or Violet, with new additions to the line in 2007 and 2010. The brand’s first mass-market fragrance,Prada Eau de Parfum, launched in 2004. A year later, in 2007, Prada unveiled the "Ephemeral Infusion" collection—an upscale line highlighting key notes from the Exclusive range, crafted with premium, more costly ingredients—debuting withInfusion d’Iris.

Prada’s fragrances are developed in collaboration with Puig.
