Nomenclature was founded in New York by Karl Bradl and Carlos Quintero. The former needs no introduction to fragrance enthusiasts. A lifelong scent aficionado, Karl has established himself as an award-winning perfume designer. Though not a "nose" himself, his role is pivotal: he conceptualizes each fragrance, selects its notes and ingredients, and oversees the perfumer throughout the development process. Carlos Quintero, a self-proclaimed "Renaissance" designer, views his work as a versatile process applicable to every aspect of life—whether fashion, graphics, furniture, packaging, digital design, accessories, or objects. He has lent his talents to prestigious global fragrance, fashion, and publishing companies in both Italy and New York.

As noted by the brand, Nomenclature celebrates the art of design within perfume chemistry by highlighting today’s most inspiring and exclusive molecules—some so rare that they are classified as "captives," fiercely guarded by fragrance houses. Through a collection of sheer, streamlined compositions, Nomenclature explores these molecules’ intricate dimensions and their capacity to take center stage. It is a testament to the inherent beauty of these man-made hybrids of poetry and science: the beauty of modernity.

Designer Nomenclature boasts 18 perfumes in our fragrance database. As a relatively new fragrance brand, its earliest creation dates back to 2015, with the latest addition released in 2025. Nomenclature’s fragrances have been crafted in collaboration with renowned perfumers including Frank Voelkl, Nathalie Feisthauer, Patricia Choux, and Bertrand Duchaufour.
