Patricia de Nicola? is a woman of extraordinary talents. Not only is she a perfumer whose creations are cherished by enthusiasts worldwide, but she also serves as the founder and owner of Parfums de Nicola?—a highly acclaimed niche fragrance brand—and the current president of the Osmothèque, the renowned perfume museum in Versailles, France. A thriving perfume artist, a successful businesswoman with a packed schedule, and a mind perpetually brimming with ideas, she makes time to craft new fragrances whenever inspiration strikes, eager to breathe life into her fragrant visions, no matter how demanding her workload.

But let us begin at the very start. Born in Paris in 1957, Patricia de Nicola? is a descendant of the Guerlain family. It was only natural that she grew up in the legendary Guerlain household, where she was constantly immersed in an atmosphere of creativity and her family’s passion for elegant, classic fragrances—a setting that ignited her own lifelong love affair with perfume.

After completing her schooling, she pursued studies in chemistry at the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles (the institution that now houses the Osmothèque on its grounds). Her extensive academic focus centered on perfume creation, a field where she mastered the art of fragrance composition. Having already demonstrated her innate talent, this became her workshop to refine and perfect her craft.

Rather than joining the Guerlain family business, however, Patricia began her career at Florasynth, later moving to Quest International, where she contributed to the development of Lanc?me’s iconic Trésor. In 1989, with the support of her husband, Jean Louis Mishau, she established her own brand: Parfums de Nicola?.

The brand’s debut fragrance, Number One—a delicate, harmonious white floral scent—earned her the International Prize for Young Perfumers from the French Society of Perfumers in 1988, making her the first female perfumer to receive this honor.

Decades have passed since she launched her business, and today, Patricia de Nicola? stands as one of the most celebrated figures in the niche perfumery world.

The designer brand Nicolai Parfumeur Createur boasts 78 perfumes in our fragrance database, with the earliest edition dating back to 1989 and the latest released in 2025. These fragrances were crafted in collaboration with perfumers Patricia de Nicolai and Fran?ois Robert.
