Montblanc (occasionally labeled "Mont Blanc" on vintage products) stands as a distinguished German enterprise renowned for its exquisite writing instruments and luxury commodities.

Founded in 1908 by stationer Claus-Johannes Voss, banker Alfred Nehemias, and engineer August Eberstein, the company initially operated under the name Simplo Filler Pen Company. Based in Hamburg, it specialized in crafting high-end pens. A pivotal moment arrived in 1910 when a pen model inspired the rebranding to "Montblanc." The iconic "White Star" emblem, adorning its products since 1913, draws inspiration from the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps.

The company gained significant acclaim with the introduction of the Meisterstück ("Masterpiece") fountain pen in 1924, a model still in production today. The Meisterstück's success fueled international expansion and export. From 1929 onward, the nibs of all Meisterstück pens featured the engraving "4810," denoting Mont Blanc's elevation. In 1934, the company rebranded as Montblanc-Simplo GmbH and launched its first piston pen filler.

By 1935, Montblanc expanded its product line to include leather accessories like pen pouches, notebooks, and writing cases. While its manufacturing facilities were destroyed during World War II, production continued in Denmark during reconstruction.

The Meisterstück series remains a cornerstone of the brand, evolving alongside new models. A resurgence in fountain pen popularity in the 1980s enabled Montblanc to enter Asian markets. The 1990s saw the debut of exclusive boutiques, and vintage Montblanc pens have since become coveted collector's items.

In the 1970s, Dunhill acquired a majority stake in Montblanc, which later joined the Richemont Group portfolio—home to luxury houses like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. Under Richemont, Montblanc diversified into premium leather goods (e.g., attache cases), jewelry, and watches. Fragrances joined the lineup in 2001 with the women's scentPresence, followed by the men'sStarwalkerin 2005, paired with a 同名 pen andTimewalkerwatch collection. Montblanc fragrances are developed in collaboration with Inter Parfums Inc.
