The Parfums Montale fragrance house was founded by Pierre Montale in 2003 in Paris.Prior to its establishment, Montale spent time in Saudi Arabia, where he crafted perfumes for nobility, kings, and queens. Upon returning to Paris, the perfumer introduced his remarkable oriental creations to the Western world. The mysterious allure of the East, Arabia, and Montale’s deep affection for these influences resonate in every bottle of the Montale collection.
Montale formulates its fragrances using high-quality natural materials in concentrated doses, resulting in scents that are intensely aromatic and long-lasting. The aluminum bottles were specially designed to shield the precious essences from light, preserving their integrity.
The brand offers men’s, women’s, and unisex fragrances, with key components featuring rare tree varieties such as incense, aoud (agarwood), cedar, sandalwood, and other materials cherished by Arabian perfumers. Aoud is an aromatic oleoresin (also known as aggor, agarwood, eagleswood, aloeswood; in Arabic:oudoroudh). This resin forms as an immunological response in the Aquillaria tree to infection by thePhialophora parasiticamold. When infected, the tree produces this precious, dark, fragrant resin in its trunk’s core. Oud and its extracts are extraordinarily costly, valued at 1.5 times the price of gold—hence nicknames like “liquid gold” or “the wood of gods.”
