Mexx is an international fashion brand with its roots in the Netherlands, and the company fondly describes itself as having "started with a kiss."
Back in the 1970s, fashion designer Rattan Chadha and his business partner Adu Advaney supplied private - label apparel to department stores and wholesale outlets across the Netherlands. In 1980, the business underwent a transformation, giving birth to two highly popular youth clothing brands: Moustache for men and Emanuelle for women. These two brands were merged in 1986 to form Mexx. The new name was crafted by combining "M" from Moustache, "E" from Emanuelle, and "XX" (which stands for "kiss kiss").
The success of the Mexx brand paved the way for its expansion into children's clothing. This included the launch of Mexx Kids in 1990, Mexx Mini for toddlers in 1992, and Baby Mexx in 1997. Starting in 1996, a series of licensing agreements helped extend the Mexx brand to a range of products such as shoes, perfume, bed and bath furnishings, glasses, and bags, establishing Mexx as a renowned lifestyle company.
Mexx's clothing and accessories, along with its home furnishings, center around "metropolitan casual" wear, drawing inspiration from city life. The brand markets its products through Mexx franchise boutiques and high - end department stores, with a strong presence primarily in Europe and further expansion into Asia and the Middle East.
In 2001, the company was acquired by the American fashion firm Liz Claiborne. However, in 2011, Mexx was sold to The Gores Group, while Liz Claiborne retained a partial stake in the company.
Mexx ventured into the fragrance market as early as 1996. Similar to its clothing line, the company's fragrances target the sophisticated youth market. They radiate a youthful energy, featuring colorful packaging and vibrant fragrance notes.
Designer Mexx has 72 perfumes in our fragrance base. The earliest edition dates back to 2000, and the latest one is from 2025. Mexx fragrances were developed in collaboration with perfumers Benoist Lapouza and Nathalie Lorson.
