  Marc Jacobs, an American fashion designer born in 1963, demonstrated early aptitude for design. He graduated from the High School of Art and Design in 1981 and furthered his studies at New York's Parsons School of Design. A prodigious student, he earned two Gold Thimble awards and the Design Student of the Year accolade at Parsons. While still a student, he designed and sold his first line of hand-knit sweaters.

  In 1986, Jacobs launched his inaugural collection under the Marc Jacobs label in partnership with Kashiyama USA Inc., which won him the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. He joined the Perry Ellis company in 1988 and left in 1993 to establish the Marc Jacobs International Company, debuting its first menswear line in 1994. In 1997, he became creative director at Louis Vuitton, introducing their first ready-to-wear collection. The secondary line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, launched in 2001.

  In 2001, Jacobs ventured into fragrances with Coty, debutingMarc Jacobs for Women, followed by a men’s scent in 2002. In 2006, the brand introduced unisex splash colognes in large bottles centered on single notes like Cotton, Cucumber, or Fig. His iconic women’s fragranceDaisylaunched in 2007, spawning numerous flankers, whileLola(2009) became a best-seller with limited editions and variations. The men’s scentBang(2010) remains a popular choice among young men.
