L'Erbolario, an Italian cosmetics company, derives its name from the ancient term "erborare," which signifies "to gather herbs in the fields to study their beneficial properties." The brand was founded by Franco Bergamaschi and his wife Daniela Villa, a biologist and cosmetologist.
Starting with family recipes for homemade beauty treatments, the couple refined and enhanced them through experimentation, research, and distillation. In 1978, they established La Premiata Erboristeria Artigiana L’Erbolario, with a mission to produce effective natural and plant-based cosmetics.
In 1984, L’Erbolario relocated its production facilities to a larger premises, allowing the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to extract new and beneficial ingredients from plants. These advancements enhanced the performance of L’Erbolario’s cosmetics and helped attract a growing customer base.
A significant milestone was reached in 1994 with the inauguration of a new production plant. Designed in a style reminiscent of the traditional farmhouses in the Lodi area, the plant is nestled within a 200,000-square-meter natural garden in Parco Adda Sud. Today, L'Erbolario offers nearly 400 products for facial, body, and hair care.
The company is particularly renowned for its extensive range of perfumed bath products, complemented by eaux de parfum that focus on natural scents and botanical-based essences.
L'Erbolario features 110 perfumes in our fragrance database. As a relatively new fragrance brand, its earliest perfume was created in 2009, with the latest addition dating to 2025. All its fragrances were crafted by perfumer Paolo Cerizza.
