Kenzois a Japanese fashion house founded by designerKenzo Takadain 1970. A pioneer as one of the first male students at Tokyo’s Bunka Fashion College, Takada relocated from Tokyo to Paris in 1964. In 1970, he established his inaugural Parisian boutique,Jungle Jap. Renowned for introducing Japanese fashion to the global stage, his distinctive designs blend traditional Japanese aesthetic lines with influences of nature and multiculturalism.

TheKenzo Parfumsdivision debuted in 1987, though the earliest Kenzo fragrance—1978’sKing Kong, aligned with theJungle Japtheme—indicates the designer’s pre-existing interest in fragrance before formalizing a separate division. The first official release under Kenzo Parfums was 1988’sKenzo for Women, later renamedça sent beau(French for “it smells nice”). Since then, the brand has launched a series of acclaimed scents for men and women, including its iconic flagship fragrance, the revolutionaryFlower by Kenzo.

In 1993, Kenzo Parfums joined the multinational luxury conglomerate LVMH. Kenzo Takada officially retired from the company in 1999 but has since returned to design home decor and furnishings.
