JOOP! (pronounced "yope") is a German fashion and cosmetics brand founded by designer Wolfgang Joop in 1978. The designer chose to capitalize the brand name and add an exclamation point to set it apart from his own identity.
In 1982, JOOP! unveiled its debut ready-to-wear collection, and expanded its offerings to include menswear three years later, in 1985.
The brand has gained particular acclaim for its extensive range of fragrances, which began with the launch of its first scent, JOOP! Femme, in 1987. Its popular counterpart, JOOP! Homme, followed just two years later. Both fragrances became top sellers, playing a key role in transforming JOOP! from a fashion-focused company into a full-fledged lifestyle brand that now offers apparel, accessories, eyewear, fragrances, and home goods.
While Wolfgang Joop departed from the company in 2001, the brand has continued to thrive. Since 2008, JOOP! has been owned by the Switzerland-based Holy Fashion Group, though Coty remains the holder of the brand's cosmetics and fragrance licenses. With a primary market presence in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, JOOP! stands today as one of Germany's most popular and widely recognized brands.
Wolfgang Joop's daughter, Jette Joop, has also made her mark as a perfumer, with several fragrances available on the market.
