Coming from a family of perfumers—with both her mother and grandmother in the trade—Jacqueline "Jacky" Couturier became a perfumer in Grasse. In 1972, she and Jean Couturier co-founded their own perfumery house. It was in 1973 that Jacqueline developed the house's renowned perfume, Coriandre.

Jacqueline "Jacky" Couturier once spoke of the fragrance: “With Coriandre, I sought to capture the olfactory emotions of my youth: the subtle, delicate scent of my mother, and the captivating aromas of the countryside in Grasse.”

Coriandre was reintroduced with a reformulation in 1993.
