The House of Gucciwas founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921. Inspired by the elegant luggage he observed travelers carrying during his time working at London’s Savoy Hotel, Gucci returned to Florence with a vision: to merge the sophisticated style of affluent globetrotters with the meticulous craftsmanship of traditional Florentine artisans.

The brand’s equestrian-themed leather goods quickly gained acclaim for their quality. When leather became scarce during World War II, Gucci’s innovative use of hemp, linen, and jute expanded its aesthetic repertoire. Though Guccio Gucci passed away in 1953, his sons and grandson oversaw the company’s expansion, transforming it into a globally renowned luxury goods manufacturer. The iconic "double G" logo was adopted in the 1960s, solidifying its brand identity.

In 1974, the company introduced its first fragrance,Gucci No. 1 for Women.
