Escada: A Legacy in Luxury Fashion and Fragrance

Escada is a prominent international luxury fashion group established in Germany by Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley. The brand name "Escada" derives from the Portuguese word for "staircase."

Since its inception in Munich in 1978, the company has carved out a distinct identity with its vibrant, pattern-rich fashion designs. In 1990, Escada expanded into the beauty sector with the launch of Escada Beauté, which introduced its debut fragrance—Escada Margaretha Ley—a tribute to one of the brand’s co-founders. Throughout the 1990s and into the 21st century, the fragrance division continued to thrive, rolling out a string of highly successful scents tailored for both men and women.

Mirroring the brand’s fashion aesthetic, Escada fragrances are celebrated for their eye-catching packaging and unique bottle silhouettes. The company’s focus on youthful, fruity-floral scent profiles is widely recognized as a key factor in establishing fruity-floral as a distinct category within the fragrance industry. Today, Escada develops its fragrances in partnership with Procter & Gamble.
