Elizabeth Arden is an American fragrance, skincare, and cosmetics company founded in 1910 by Canadian entrepreneur Florence Nightingale Graham. Graham adopted "Elizabeth Arden" as both her professional moniker and the company's namesake. Initially focused on skincare and cosmetics, the brand established its first Red Door spa in Manhattan, swiftly expanding to major global cities as its empire grew.
A pioneer in women's cosmetics, Elizabeth Arden introduced eye makeup to American women and pioneered the concept of the "makeover." The company debuted its first fragrance,Blue Grass, in 1934. Arden herself led the company until her death in 1966. During the late 20th century, the brand changed ownership multiple times before being acquired by FFI in 2003, which adopted the esteemed "Elizabeth Arden" name as its own.
Today, the company continues to produce cosmetics and skincare, though its focus has shifted to fragrances. It offers a vast portfolio of scents under its own label and collaborates with fashion designers and celebrities for branded fragrances. Many Red Door spas remain operational, and the brand honored this heritage with theRed Doorfragrance launch in 1989.
