Demeter Fragrance, a Pennsylvania-based perfume house, crafts fragrances inspired by natural aromas—including soil, flowers, fruits, cakes, drinks, and other whimsical scents. With over 200 thematic fragrances to date, the brand embodies the creative vision of founders Christopher Brosius and Christopher Gable, whose motto "revive memories and travel through time" drives their craft. Named after the Greek goddess Demeter, the house combines natural components with imaginative notes through an innovative approach, aiming to transform everyday, recognizable scents into personal triggers that spark smiles and nostalgic recall.
Unlike traditional perfumes, Demeter fragrances feature linear compositions without the classic top-middle-base note pyramid, maintaining consistent scents over time. While their soap is produced in Italy, all other products are made in the U.S.
For floral scents, the brand uses pure flower essences. To recreate aromas like cakes, Gin & Tonic, Hawaiian Surf, or Angel Food Cake, they employ Headspace technology: analyzing the air around scent sources to isolate fragrant molecules. Since the human brain can distinguish only about 130 fragrant molecules, Demeter blends natural components to replicate exact notes through meticulous molecular segregation.
Beyond fragrances, the brand offers body care collections (body lotions, bath products, scented oils, exfoliants, soaps, and creams), home fragrances, and scented candles. Our fragrance base lists 431 Demeter perfumes, ranging from the first edition in 1996 to the latest in 2024, developed in collaboration with perfumers Christopher Brosius, Angéline Leporini, and Francis Kurkdjian.
