Centauri Perfumes is a small, fully independent perfume house that crafts fragrances by hand in small batches in England. The house officially launched on December 22nd, 2019, at 4:19 am, timed to coincide with the winter solstice. For nearly all ancient cultures, the movements of the stars and celestial bodies, as well as the timing of solstices and equinoxes, held immense significance. The house logo, a star, ties into this celestial theme and the importance of the heavens. It also symbolizes the future—where our civilization will one day explore new worlds, with Proxima Centauri, our nearest star, serving as a beacon. Simultaneously, it evokes the past: that very star was carved in stone by the ancient Sumerians thousands of years ago.

Every aspect of the house’s operations is overseen by its owner and perfumer, Peter Carter. The conceptual core of the house is expressed through three distinct lines: Past, Present, and Future.

Pastis represented by red, a color symbolizing fire—one of the most pivotal discoveries in the development of humankind. Drawing direct inspiration from the mysteries of ancient cultures across the globe, this line pays homage to our origins, with a focus on using natural materials.

Presentis embodied in white, reflecting our modern world—the era of smartphones and the internet. Rooted in the technological age and the here-and-now, this line freely explores inspirations from contemporary life through mixed media, striking a balance and harmony between natural oils and modern aroma chemicals.

Futureis denoted by blue, the color of the sky, and takes inspiration from the heavens and stars. Also utilizing mixed media, this line places a greater emphasis on modern aroma chemicals, nodding to our longing to expand beyond Earth and evolve into a civilization capable of exploring new worlds. It is fueled by hope for humanity and the evolution of human consciousness.

These three lines—distinguished by their focus on past, present, and future, and ranging from natural ingredients to mixed media and aroma chemicals—offer an expansive creative palette. They encompass the most luxurious natural oils of the past and the most cutting-edge synthetics of the present and future, uniting all three within a single house that transcends time.

Three collections showcase three styles of perfumery, each tied to a distinct age. These lines will grow gradually as more scents are created under the themes of past, present, and future.
