Founded in Oman in 1983 by the Sultan of Oman,Amouageis a luxury perfume house that embodies this mission. The brand draws on traditional Middle Eastern perfume ingredients—such as agarwood, incense, musk, rose, and spices—while collaborating with master perfumers from leading fragrance and flavor houses to craft its scents.
The first Amouage fragrance (initially namedAmouageand now known asAmouage Gold) was created in 1983 by French perfumer Guy Robert, renowned for iconic compositions for Hermès, Dior, Rochas, and other prestigious houses.
Nearly all Amouage perfumes are presented in distinctive bottles that pay homage to Omani heritage: women’s fragrances feature designs inspired by the Palace Ruwi Mosque in Muscat, while men’s scents are housed in vessels shaped like thekhanjar, Oman’s traditional dagger.
