His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al Bu Said harbored a vision to revive the great Arabian art of perfumery in the region.

Founded in Oman in 1983 by the Sultan of Oman, Amouage is a luxury perfume house that celebrates traditional Middle Eastern fragrance ingredients—including agarwood, incense, musk, rose, and spices. While the scents draw on regional heritage, they are crafted by perfumers from leading fragrances & flavor companies worldwide.

The first Amouage fragrance (initially namedAmouageand now known asAmouage Gold) was created in 1983 by French perfumer Guy Robert, renowned for masterpieces designed for Hermès, Dior, Rochas, and other iconic houses.

Nearly all Amouage perfumes are presented in distinctive traditional bottles: women’s scents feature vessels inspired by the architectural form of Muscat’s Palace Ruwi Mosque, while men’s fragrances are housed in bottles shaped like thekhanjar—Oman’s traditional dagger.

In our fragrance database, Amouage boasts 140 perfumes. The earliest edition dates to 1983, with the most recent released in 2025. These scents are the result of collaborations with esteemed perfumers, including Elise Benat, Alexandra Carlin, Bertrand Duchaufour, Jean-Claude Ellena, Randa Hammami, Cécile Zarokian, Daniel Maurel, Angéline Leporini, Guy Robert, Nathalie Feisthauer, Violaine Collas, Leslie Girard, Pierre Negrin, Karine Vinchon Spehner, Alberto Morillas, Lucas Sieuzac, Daniel Visentin, Dorothée Piot, Nathalie Lorson, Annick Menardo, Maurice Roucel, Emilie Coppermann, Bernard Ellena, Olivier Cresp, Fabrice Pellegrin, Michèle Saramito, Jacques Flori, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, Richard Herpin, Bruno Jovanovic, Gras, Creations Aromatiques, Julien Rasquinet, Dominique Ropion, Paul Guerlain, Quentin Bisch, Alexis Grugeon, Hamid Merati-Kashani, Mackenzie Reilly, Domitille Michalon Bertier, and Pascal Gaurin.
