American Eagle Outfitters is an American fashion retailer specializing in clothing for teens and young adults. Founded in 1977, the company opened its first store in Novi, Michigan, and experienced steady growth through the late 20th century. In 1994, American Eagle launched its first public stock offering.
Renowned for its custom-fit denim collections, the brand expanded throughout the United States and entered the Canadian market in 2001. Today, it operates more than 500 stores across North America, with merchandise also available internationally in locations such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Russia, Kuwait, and Shanghai.
The brand’s iconic eagle logo was first introduced in 2003. In 2006, American Eagle entered the women’s undergarments market with the launch of its Aerie label and standalone stores. In 2008, it expanded into children’s clothing under the 77kids brand.
